Federalism and the National Unity

Federalism will not result into disunity of the country. As a matter of fact, there is more unity in federalism because states would become active participants in the nation building. There is unity in active participation than in mere passivity.

Considering that it would result into a government closer to them and considering that some of the highest governmental powers would be brought before them and in their midst, the people could participate in the state level in the shaping of the policies that affects them.
When there is active participation on the part of the states and the people, when there is cooperation on their part, there is more national unity.
As the saying goes, "Out of sight, out of mind". In this present system where the highest governmental powers are not in their presence but in a central government located in a distant place, it does not bridge participation.
